Blackboard at California Baptist University

Text box editors are used to create and reply to discussion board postings, among other things. The visual text box editor enhances the text box by adding formatting features that are similar to Microsoft Word. Users can also upload content directly to the editor.

It appears that the problem only occurs for users that use Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7 simultaneously when trying to access the visual text box editor.

In an effort to resolve the issue, the visual text box editor has been disabled in Blackboard and the standard text box editor has been restored.

If you are still unable to access the text box editor, please visit www.mozilla.org and download the free FireFox 2.0 browser (the FireFox 2.0 browser seems to work fine with Blackboard).

When printing a document from IE7, press and hold the Shift key while clicking on the document link. The document will appear in an external browser window. The document should print nicely from the external window.

Background: Faculty members can upload documents (i.e., Word documents, PDF documents, etc.) to Blackboard. When the file is uploaded, it is usually available via a hyperlink. When a student goes to click on that hyperlink, the document will usually appear within the framed Blackboard Web interface (in the browser). The document doesn’t print well within the frames.

Please be sure to check your CBU email account often.  In most cases, emails that are sent via Blackboard will go to your CBU email address.

Two versions of the Blackboard learning management system are available for student and faculty members: Blackboard 5.5 (previous version) and Blackboard 6.3 (newer version launched Fall 2005). Please check with each of your professors to determine which version of Blackboard they are using.

Please browse to http://www.calbaptist.edu/elearning to access both versions of the Blackboard system.

Students will use their InsideCBU User ID and Password to log in to both versions of the Blackboard system. Students should contact the CBU Information Technology Help Desk at 951-343-4444 (x4444 on-campus) for User ID/Password assistance.
